Iodoral

Iodoral (iodine and iodides) 12.5mg 90 tablets ORDER Iodoral

Description: Iodoral is a special combination of iodide and iodine which help to saturate the tissues of the body with sufficient levels of iodine to prevent disease. It is a tablet containing 5mg iodine and 7.5mg iodide as the potassium salt. To prevent gastric irritation, the iodine/iodide preparation is absorbed into a colloidal silica excipient; and to eliminate the unpleasant taste of iodine, the tablets are coated with a thin film of pharmaceutical glaze.

Information About Iodine

Iodine is an essential trace element (one of the halogen elements); the thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodotyronine (T3) contain iodine. In areas where there is little iodine in the diet—typically remote inland areas where no marine foods are eaten—iodine deficiency gives rise to goiter (so-called endemic goitre), as well as cretinism, which results in developmental delays and other health problems.

Some thyropid symptoms associated with low iodine

Fatigue
Weakness
Weight gain or increased difficulty losing weight
Coarse, dry hair
Dry, rough pale skin
Hair loss
Cold intolerance (can't tolerate the cold like those around you)
Muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches
Constipation
Depression
Irritability
Memory loss
Abnormal menstrual cycles
Decreased libido

In some such areas, this is now combatted by the addition of small amounts of iodine to table salt in form of sodium iodide, potassium iodide, potassium iodate—this product is known as iodized salt. Iodine compounds have also been added to other foodstuffs, such as flour, water and milk in areas of deficiency. Seaweed is also a well known source of iodine[2]. Thus iodine deficiency is more common in mountainous regions of the world where food is grown in soil poor in iodine.

Iodoral vs. Lugol's Solution

Each tablet is 12.5mg

 Prescription strength Lugol's solution provides approximately 130mg in each 1ml. There are approximately 20 drops in 1ml. Each 2 drops will provide approximately 13mg, which is comparable to 1 Iodoral tablet.

Lugol's is sold over-the-counter (OTC) but you must understand that it is significantly weaker than the original Lugol's, which is now only available by prescription. The OTC version is in the 2% range (about one-sixth the strength of the original. A comparable dose would be 12 drops.

Suggested Usage: Take one tablet per day, or as directed by your qualified health consultant. 

 

After testing deficient in Iodine the suggested dosage to gain whole body sufficiency is 2 Iodoral tablets in the morning and 2 in the evening. A retest is suggested after 3 months. Once whole body sufficiency is gained the Iodoral maintenance dosage is 1 tablet daily. Persons with Thyroid disorders should work closely with their health care professional.
