What About LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone)?

Using LDN to treat many chronic diseases is gaining momentum. There are still MANY doctors who are unfamiliar with LDN and they refuse to allow their patients to just try it. It is inexpensive and very safe. The potential side effects are far less than those experienced when using the standard, expensive drugs to treat chronic disease.

We've been dispensing this prescription treatment for over a decade and our customers are overwhelmingly pleased. They have their prescriptions refilled regularly, year after year.

I get emails every week from people who are looking for doctors who will prescribe LDN for them. I repeatedly tell them that the best doctor is the one they are already seeing, not some new on that they just want to prescribe the drug. The doctors are obligated by professional code to see any new patient. They cannot just authorize a prescription drug after speaking to someone on the phone. This whole process is time consuming and it costs money. When you switch doctors you're starting all over again - office visit, examination, laboratory tests, insurance issues, and so on.

The best route is to work WITH your current doctor, provide him/her with information, ask for their help, and stay loyal. The doctor is never refusing LDN because he/she wants you to suffer. The reasons they resist are usually far more complex. They are good people who want to do their best. Give them a chance. Imagine the number of people YOU WILL HELP when you help your doctor become acquainted with LDN.

The time and resources you spend to help educate your current doctor will be far less than what it would cost to find someone new. If you make the effort and fail you will either need to change your doctor or live with the treatment options he/she offers to you.

Ordering LDN

Any doctor can prescribe Naltrexone. There is nothing special about it. It is a simple order for a very safe treatment. Show your doctor the reports and mountains of evidence about using LDN for autoimmune diseases.

Like many compounding pharmacists, we've been dispensing LDN for over a decade. I have many customers using it and I can't remember the last time anyone even mentioned having a problem.

Naltrexone has been on the market for a LONG time, usually ordered in doses up to 300mg per day. The LDN doses are usually in the 3mg to 4.5mg range - sometimes lower, and RARELY higher.

If a doctor refuses to even consider LDN as a treatment he/she is less interested in helping the patient than in maintaining their position of authority. ASK your doctor to at least allow you to TRY the LDN.

Doctors all over Illinois are prescribing it for all sorts of reasons. I wish I had a list I could share, but that isn't possible. Because any doctor can prescribe I EXPECT that  every good doctor will at least consider LDN and allow their patients to try it if they want. Your present doctor is by far the best person to work with and he/she OUGHT to allow you to try the treatment.

It is inexpensive - NO, it's cheap (compared to potent drugs that are usually used). As of January 2009, we sell a month's supply of 3mg for $29.00 and the 4.5mg is $36.00. Prices per capsule are lower when your prescription is for more than a month's supply. There are hardly any side effects and the low dose is NOT TOXIC. People who use it report that they experience improvement within a month or two, so trying it is not a major undertaking.
