What is it?

It's what we were NEVER taught in school.  It's about the startling link between your body's intestinal flora and your ability to prevent serious illness, to add vital years to your life, and to enjoy a dramatically higher quality of life - RIGHT NOW!

Plain and simple, good food digestion and absorption is at the heart of health - but most mainstream doctors are still in the dark about this.

Why don't you hear about this from your doctor?  Because they are busy peddling antibiotics and a whole list of drugs they learn about from all the drug company sales representatives.  Antibiotics DESTROY the "friendly" flora in your body and cause more immediate health problems and life-threatening disease.

But there's another way - a way that's 100% safe.   The ecology of your gastro-intestinal system (your gut) may be part of the cause for almost all known human illness and disease!

The GOOD NEWS is that alternative doctors and interested health workers - like the folks at The Compounder - offer a way to REVITALIZE YOUR INTESTINAL FLORA - with a simple, daily dose of Probiotics.

What's Stealing Your Get-Up-And-Go?

  1. Stress

  2. Antibiotic Usage

  3. Excessive Sugar and Yeast Consumption

  4. Drinking Chlorinated Water

  5. Processed Foods

Many people treat themselves for indigestion by swallowing antacids which neutralize stomach acid, inviting the stomach to produce even more acid, often making things worse.

They might rely on laxatives to relieve constipation and that can lead to diarrhea.  When your digestion is not optimal, problems can quickly progress beyond gas and bloating.

Your energy is reduced and your immune system is compromised!  Along with chronic indigestion comes chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, chronic muscle pain, recurring yeast infections - and so on.

All nutrients - vitamins, minerals, proteins and so forth - demand a properly functioning "gut" for absorption. You can take all the supplements you want but if you can't absorb the nutrients into your bloodstream you'd starve to death. A vitally important part of our digestion process is the activity of all the billions and trillions of microorganisms in our intestinal tract.  The power of "friendly" bacteria in Florajen®3  can improve your entire digestion system - for mere pennies a day.

Here are just a few of the conditions that respond favorably to the daily use of Probiotics
- the "friendly" bacteria in your gut

  • acne,

  • Candida albicans overgrowth (yeast),

  • chronic fatigue,

  • colitis,

  • constipation,

  • diarrhea,

  • depression,

  • digestive problems,

  • food allergy and intolerance,

  • intestinal gas and bloating,

  • irritable bowel syndrome,

  • PMS,

  • rheumatoid arthritis,

  • and a number of other “autoimmune” conditions

Here's a list of a few things you can do right now to improve your digestion

  • Eat proteins

  • Eat small meals

  • Eat slowly and chew well

  • Drink clean water without chlorine

  • Add fermented foods to your diet (sauerkraut, sourdough breads, cheese, kifir, tempeh)

  • Add good intestinal bacteria.

Don't Depend on Commercial Yogurt

You can get some good lactobacillus from yogurt BUT BE CAREFUL!  Almost all commercially available yogurt is loaded with sugar - and that is not helpful.  In fact, you will find that processed sugar can actually make your digestive system run more poorly.

A year ago Mrs. M visited our pharmacy for a compounded vaginal suppository for her college-age daughter.  It was a potent "medicine" designed to treat the occasional infection.  This young girl got the infections regularly - and they seemed almost relentless now that she was away at school.

I told Mrs. M. about probiotics, but she still wanted the prescription medicine.

Two weeks later she was back - and so was the infection.  The medicine worked for a short time, but the problem returned.

This time she wanted to try the Florajen®3  (the version of probiotic that we recommend).  I told her to have her daughter take one capsule twice a day for two weeks and then cut back to one a day - and try to take it on an empty stomach - with chlorine-free water.  IT WORKED.

The infection cleared - and hasn't returned.  Rebalancing the intestinal flora was all that was needed to permanently keep the Candida yeast under control.

Information about FOS (Fructooligosaccharides)

I've been a pharmacist for over 30 years and have been working closely with many MS patients. I have noticed that many folks receive great benefit from nutritional supplements, particularly the B vitamins. I have also noticed that the best results seem to come when the supplements are taken in high doses or by non-oral routes.

It also seems clear that there is not a single disease called “multiple sclerosis”. Instead it looks like MS (and its “cousins”) may actually be a sequelae of something else - a virus or bacteria. Often, the invading organisms leave malfunctions in their wake that impair absorption of nutrients.

Putting these two elements together I have been thinking that there may be an advantage to using a supplement that will repopulate the gut with organisms that would enhance absorption, improve gut tone, improve mobility, and reduce the presence of harmful organisms. Since 1998 I have been recommending probiotics to people and we’ve seen major improvements - in many areas. Most commercially available probiotics offer a couple of billion colony forming units (CFU) of “good” bacteria.

When you have the correct balance between "friendly" and "unfriendly" microorganisms your intestinal function runs smoothly,
with digestion and metabolism operating a peak levels.

I am not suggesting that every problem can be resolved, but it seems reasonable to consider dysbiosis as a contributor to many malfunctioning systems in the body.  Dysbiosis is one of those "ten dollar doctor words" that merely means that your gut isn't operating efficiently.

A Probiotic Profile

There has been a lot of research and interest in the use of probiotics or biotherapeutic agents. These so-called friendly bacteria inhabit the intestinal and vaginal tract, and are believed to be therapeutic by

  • competitive exclusion of pathogenic organisms

  • producing lactic acid — decrease in pH

  • producing trace amounts of H2O2, which may be antagonistic to Candida

In 1996, the Journal of American Medical Association published a positive review of probiotics, referencing 81 articles and stating:

"Placebo controlled studies have shown that biotherapeutic agents (such as Lactobacillus acidophilus) have been used successfully to prevent antibiotic-associated diarrhea…and possibly treatment of (antibiotic-associated) vaginal infections."

What are Florajen®3 Cultures?

  • are live and pure cultures — see the long list of clinical and university studies citations.

  • are the exact same strains that have been sold to the best U.S. yogurt companies for over 27 years.

  • are non-dairy & gluten free.

  • have high cell counts designed to be effective — yet affordable. Typically 15+ billion cells per capsule.

  • researched, produced and quality assured by experienced food bacteriologists.

  • a simple OTC dietary supplement — satisfaction guaranteed.

  • reasonably priced
