Use: Triamcinolone acetonide is a type of medicine known as a corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are hormones produced naturally by the adrenal glands which have many important functions on every organ system.
Side Effects: Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with this medicine. Difficulty in sleeping, Thinning of the skin, Increased pressure inside the eye, Adrenal suppression, Osteoporosis, Ulceration of the stomach or intestine, Increased susceptibility to infections, Allergic reaction, Increased hair growth, Yeast infection of the moist areas of the body, Muscle wasting and weakness.
Directions: Give oral triamcinolone with food or milk to lessen stomach upset. Measure the oral liquid with the dropper provided or with a special dose-measuring spoon, dropper, or cup.
Storage: Keep in the original container. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Capsules and tablets may be stored at room temperature. Some liquids should be stored in the refrigerator (see the prescription label.) Store all medicines away from excess heat and moisture. Do NOT store in the bathroom.
If you miss a dose give it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give a double dose to make up for the missed one.
