(Orbax® is another name for this medication.)
Use: Orbifloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic used to treat infections in animals.
Side Effects: Some animals will suffer from loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, and tiredness. Rarely, some animals will develop liver problems after taking orbifloxacin. Dehydrated animals that are prone to seizures may have seizures while taking orbifloxacin.
Precautions: Orbifloxacin should be given orally on an empty stomach. Iron, antacids and dairy products should not be given within 2 hours after giving orbifloxacin.
Directions: Dogs and cats usually receive orbifloxacin orally once to twice daily for several days.
Remember: Orbifloxacin should be stored in a tight, light resistant, childproof container away from all children and other household pets.
If you miss a dose of this medication you should give it as soon as you remember it, but if it is within a few hours of the regularly scheduled dose, wait and give it at the regular time. Do not double a dose as this can be toxic to your pet.
