What Is It?: Meclizine HCl is an antihistamine with sedative and antiemetic effects. It is used primarily for motion sickness.
How To Use: It is principally used in small animals as an antiemetic and for treating and preventing motion sickness. In rabbits it is used for Rolling, torticollis (A contracted state of the neck muscles that produces a twisting of the neck and unnatural position of the head), and motion sickness.
If using an oral preparation you may give it either with or without food, but do it consistently; either always with food or always without food.
Possible Side Effects: The usual lside effect is sedatrion; less frequently dry mouth or dry eyes. Some animals may experience rapid heart rate. Overdosing can result in drowsiness alternating with hyperexciteability.
If you observe any of the following symptoms, call your veterinarian immediately: skin rash, itching, fast or irregular heartbeat, unusual movements or the head or neck muscles
Storage: Keep in the original container. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Capsules and tablets may be stored at room temperature. Some liquids should be stored in the refrigerator (see the prescription label.) Store all medicines away from excess heat and moisture. Do NOT store in the bathroom.
Note: If you miss a dose give it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give a double dose to make up for the missed one.
