Skin
is the largest organ and performs many functions:
1. Protection: an anatomical barrier between
the internal and external environment in bodily defense; Langerhans
cells in the skin are part of the adaptive immune system
2. Sensation: contains a variety of nerve endings that react
to heat and cold, touch, pressure, vibration, and tissue injury; see
somatosensory system and haptics.
3. Heat regulation: the skin contains a blood supply far
greater than its requirements which allows precise control of energy
loss by radiation, convection and conduction. Dilated blood vessels
increase perfusion and heat loss while constricted vessels greatly
reduce cutaneous blood flow and conserve heat. Erector pili muscles
are significant in animals.
4. Control of evaporation: the skin provides a relatively dry
and impermeable barrier to fluid loss. Loss of this function
contributes to the massive fluid loss in burns.
5. Aesthetics and communication: others see our skin and can
assess our mood, physical state and attractiveness.
6. Storage and synthesis: acts as a storage center for lipids
and water, as well as a means of synthesis of vitamin D by action of
UV on certain parts of the skin.
7. Excretion: sweat contains urea, however its concentration
is 1/130th that of urine, hence excretion by sweating is at most a
secondary function to temperature regulation.
8. Absorption: Oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide can
diffuse into the epidermis in small amounts, some animals using
their skin for their sole respiration organ. In addition, medicine
can be administered through the skin, by ointments or by means of
adhesive patch, such as the nicotine patch or iontophoresis. The
skin is an important site of transport in many other organisms.
In some respect, then, we ought to pay
special attention to the health of our skin. We have to keep it
clean and well nourished. We should avoid harsh chemicals and
environments. The sun is wonderful and we need to be exposed to it
for many reasons. Too much sun causes burning and it is never ok to
burn an organ. Aging, the environment, our diet, and exposure to
chemicals all impact the health of our skin and sometimes it is
important to add products back that may have been lost. It isn't
just vanity that drives us to want smooth, supple skin. Good skin is
healthier and that's good for our overall wellness. We offer a small
selection of top quality preparations that will help keep your skin
in it's best condition.
In addition to using various topical
supplements consider using a quality oral supplement as well. One
key product is fish oil. A daily dose provides necessary oil-soluble
vitamins and omega substances. We recommend
Carlson's Cod Liver Oil.

The big cosmetics
companies charge well over ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS for products like this - and they
really don't match to the quality of Chrysaderm. In fact, a product debuting in
March 2005 bears a recommended retail price of $138 for a single bottle - and
you'll need to visit a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist to get it. And that
adds even more to the cost.
Don't let the fancy
adds and their high price fool you! Chrysaderm is a premium skin care product -
probably the best available on the market. You you will want to use every day.
The
recommended retail price is $97.00 per bottle of
either Chrysaderm DayTM or Chrysaderm NightTM. Our price is $85.00

Chrysaderm™ Clinical Tests Are In! An FDA-registered third-party laboratory tested Chrysaderm on 24 human
subjects, aged 35 to 65. The purpose was to test Chrysaderm’s effectiveness
at reducing the appearance of facial lines, in particular periocular “crow’s
feet.” Post-treatment digital photography and silicon replicas revealed
a
statistically significant decrease in roughness of coarse wrinkles after
6 weeks of product application, and a statistically significant reduction in
fine lines after 4 weeks and 6 weeks of application.
86% of subjects saw a minimization in the appearance of fine lines
and wrinkles.
90% of subjects saw improved skin tone and 86 percent felt it
improved skin texture.
The subjects also completed a participant questionnaire regarding their
perceptions of product effectiveness. The responses indicate a very positive
perception of the product’s efficacy, ease of use and overall performance
compared to other products they may have used in the past.
In a separate study, the laboratory used 50 human subjects to allergy test
Chrysaderm via a Repeat Insult Patch Test with skin irritation and
sensitization evaluation. Chrysaderm is now officially deemed “allergy
tested and hypoallergenic.”
