Fluoride & Chlorine Print E-mail

We use a filter device to remove toxic materials from our water. Chlorine is added to water to hopefully rid it of harmful bacteria. Our municipal water systems add it. That's what gives tap water that "bleachy" smell. If you allow tap water to sit for a few hours the chlorine will leave the water.

Fluorine is added to many water supplies because of the wrongheaded notion that it is somehow good for us. Dr. Joe Mercola offers a good number of pages of his site about the dangers of fluoride. I've studied his papers - and others - and I have decided that I seriously don't want any fluoride in my body. I have switched completely to our tooth soap because it contains NO fluoride.

SHOULD WE STOP USING FLUORIDE? YES

Here's something you may not know about fluorine and chlorine. They are in the same group on the periodic chart of elements as IODINE. Iodine is an important element for regulation of our thyroid function. It just so happens that fluorine and chlorine both interfere with our use of iodine. The fluorine and chlorine compete with the iodine in the body. Because most of us regularly bombard ourselves with the fluorine and chlorine, the iodine is depleted. In addition, our diets contain less and less natural iodine. The low intake of iodine coupled with the loss because we're exposed to fluorine and chlorine every day makes it difficult for our thyroid to function at a maximum level.
